The USABMX National Series stopped in Southern California over the weekend and brought the Seaside Nationals to Ventura. This was a new stop on the tour, which replaced a long tradition of events at Metro BMX in Bakersfield. Moving this race closer to the beach made all the sense in the world, and the staff in Ventura really did a good job getting the track ready for their inaugural event.
The Haro/Promax team was looking good on day 1, with Rusty Nesvig winning all 3 A-Pro main events, but the roster at the end of the day wasn't what TM Donavon Long was hoping for. 17-18 expert has the biggest rider count and is crucial for team sheet, and when Andrew Townsend hit the deck in turn 1 of his semi final, the team sheet looked a bit rough. Still with wins from Madison Martinez in 13 girls, Carlie Ferree in 17-20 girls and Bryant White in 13 expert, the best we could manage was 2nd for the day.
Sunday we were back on point with Rusty winning the overall in A-Pro, Bryant winning 13 expert, Andrew keeping the rubber side down and winning 17-18 expert, and the team coming out on top with the Factory win for the day.
We're still atop the Factory leader boards heading into Albuquerque for the Spring Nationals next weekend where our pro riders will be back on the tour for stop #5 on the Elite series.
