We're out here in Randaburg, Norway for the 2nd round of the UCI World Cup Series on the road to London Olympics 2012. Just two weeks ago in Chula Vista, California was the opening round so we've taken a big leap across the pond for round 2. For our USA riders, Nic Long and Brooke Crain, this race is one of the most important of the year. They are both in the hunt for the overall Power Ranking points chase that if they win, will give them the first Olympic Berth come June when the points chase ends. For our Australian, Khalen Young, he just needs to stay healthy and consistent because as he sits, he looks to be a shoe in for the Australian Olympic Team.
Today was the opening day here in Randaburg, and all of the riders were allowed plenty of time to practice the track in preparation for Friday's time trial and Saturday's race. Our guys (and gal) were all looking strong and confident today, so we hope that carries on through the weekend.
Unsure of the total women signed up, but the men have 120 entries and only 64 of them will qualify out of the time trial and get a chance to go head to head with the worlds best come Saturday.
Check back tomorrow and see how our riders qualify. -DB
