The USA BMX National Series kicked off this last weekend in Oldsmar, Florida. The Gator Nationals, actually the 3rd stop on the national tour, was the season opener for the Pro classes on the 2012 series. We sent Brooke Crain and Khalen Young to represent Haro, while their team mate, Nic Long, is still sidelined with a broken hand.
Brooke has been working hard, and it's paying off for her as she's making frequent visits to the podium lately. With all the worlds best in attendance last weekend, Brooke finished 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday in a 21 rider field that was won both days by UCI World Champion, Mariana Pajon. Brooke looks to have a promising season and we're really excited to watch this season unfold for her. There is no doubt that she is among the top 2 best American women to represent our country this year in London.
Khalen, coming off a 1st and 2nd at the category 4 UCI race just weeks ago in Australia, didn't have nearly the weekend he was expecting to have. Although Khalen was 1st or 2nd in all of his qualifying rounds both Saturday and Sunday, he didn't qualify out of his 1/4 finals either day. With a 50 rider field in Florida, one small mistake would have the worlds best watching the main events from the bleachers.
March 16-18 is the second stop on the USA BMX Pro Series Tour and you can expect to see Brooke, Nic and Khalen looking for podium spots on their road to Olympic Glory come August.
